I started this a few months ago as a donation to a fundraiser for a children's residential treatment center that has a great animal therapy program. Life got in the way, and I missed the deadline, so for now I'm keeping it. I love interspecies friendships, and know that bond well.

This was my first attempt at glazing; I like the richness of the technique.

I painted this angel for a good friend and colleague who recently lost his fiance to cancer. I wanted to make her appealing to a man, so I decided to use strong, high-contrast colors (indigo background with black lava for sparkle, metallic copper and gold for the wings, and a white robe). I hope she helps guide him to peace as he walks the dark journey of grief.
